Laytonville Ecovillage

Permaculture design possibilities

Laytonville is a small, rural community in northern Mendocino County. One mile out of town is the developing Laytonville Ecovillage, a ten-acre subdivision of four parcels, allowing for the building of eight homes. Our vision is to create a green neighborhood, share resources, lower the expense of development, and have fun! There’s an existing redwood-sided farmhouse, cob pizza oven, outdoor kitchen, outdoor solar shower with an on-demand water heater, garden, chickens, roundpole structure, and several outbuildings. Workshops on sustainability start in May and run through September. Click here to visit the Laytonville Ecovillage.

The 611 Ecovillage is an urban, two-home community in one of Oakland’s historical corridors. Founded in 2000, we have performed extensive upgrades to create a green oasis. 611 hosts a solar-heated hot tub, natural paints and finishes, roof deck garden, energy efficient appliances, and numerous green features. Click here to visit 611 Ecovillage.

Water Conservation News Flash

Help fend off the drought and distinguish your business and/or property as a water conserving operation! Now is a good time to inspect all plumbing fixtures and appliances. All new toilets sold in California use only 1.28 gallons per flush. Why not upgrade now? If you don’t have the budget for it, make sure that the toilet flapper is properly sealed so that you don’t have a slow trickle leak running 24/7 and that wastes thousands of gallons of water.
